Boil (with drains)

Homecoming advice Böld

Your animal has had an abscess that we have opened and rinsed with table salt.

Keep the wound open by washing with saline (NaCl) and a compress 1 time daily until the wound has healed.

You do not want the wound to heal too quickly.

Salt is available for purchase at the pharmacy or if you want to make your own salt, recipe below.

Making table salt at home:

1 dl water

1 cream table salt

Pour water and salt into a clean saucepan. Bring to the boil and cool.

Use the saline solution and store what is left in a clean container in the refrigerator, max 2 days.

Remember to wash your hands and be careful with hygiene so you do not add bacteria to the solution.

To prevent the animal from licking the wound, it needs to wear a collar until the wound has healed. In the case of a cat, the cat should be kept indoors.
